B.A. in Music, General Music Emphasis

A general focus in music, which includes studies in a Principal Instrument, Theory, History and Literature, Ensemble Performances, Conducting, Music Technology, and Piano while allowing for extra electives in Music outside of the Core courses. Students can expect a Liberal Arts Degree with an overview study of music that can prepare them for further education or careers leading to performance, production, composition, or teaching. A study of Core Music courses with Introduction to Music Business and additional courses in Industry. Students should work with the Music Department Chair when choosing electives to orient their focus of study toward their goals within the Music Industry. This is not a business degree but focuses on Music with a few courses directed toward business. Students can expect a Liberal Arts Degree with studies in music and business that can prepare them to explore various careers in the Music Industry, such as singer/songwriter, manager, technician, coordinator, or DIY musician.
